Your Investment at Work in Haiti

July 23rd, 2013

In the poorest area of Haiti, World Central Kitchen has spent the last year designing and building a “smart school kitchen.”  Across from a new school, this kitchen/cafeteria will seat 200 for a meal, and allow 4 trained cooks to prepare healthy meals on new clean cookstoves that burn 70% less solid fuel.

The “smart kitchen” is also equipped with a rain water collection system, and will soon have a community garden and chicken farm that will allow this school to be self-sufficient.  As we support the operations of this kitchen for the next year, we will work with the community to cultivate the community garden and chicken farm – allowing them to grow the food that will be the “impetus” for these children to attend school.
