On Oct. 22nd, 2014, World Central Kitchen was thrilled to receive the 2014 Points of Light Tribute Award, honoring individuals and organizations whose extraordinary contributions to volunteering and service have made their communities and the world better and whose leadership inspires others to discover their power to change the world. Points of Light is a nonpartisan, global volunteer organization created by President George H. W. Bush, and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Washington DC served as the venue for the 2014 Awards Gala. Brian MacNair, Executive Director of World Central Kitchen, accepted the award on behalf of the organization, the Chef Network, and our smart solutions to hunger and poverty around the world.
Approximately 250 celebrities, dignitaries, and individuals from the corporate, nonprofit, government, service and entertainment industry were in attendance at the 2014 Awards Gala. VIPs included: Governor George Pataki; Kenichiro Sasae, Ambassador of Japan to the United States; Don Beyer, Former Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein; Jean Becker, Chief of Staff, Office of President George H. W. Bush; Mack McLarty, Former Chief of Staff, President Bill Clinton; Wally Ganzi, Owner of the Palm Restaurants, and many others.
