Siem Reap, Cambodia
World Central Kitchen brought its Sink to Stove program to Siem Reap, Cambodia through a partnership with Maketto and Caring for Cambodia. Sink to Stove brings members of our Chef Network to conduct food safety and sanitation classes with the aim of improving nutrition and encouraging good sanitary practices for cooks in the area.
WCK Chef Network member and Maketto chef Erik Bruner-Yang accompanied WCK on its inaugural journey to the Southeast Asian country to help educate local cooks on how to use healthier, more natural ingredients in their meals. The program has benefitted cooks and others in Cambodia in several ways, including:
- Food safety and sanitation training for local school cooks
- Education on how to swap unhealthy ingredients, like MSG, for natural substitutes
Through new partnerships, WCK is able to expand its reach to new countries and broaden its continuous mission to find smart solutions to hunger and poverty all across the globe.
