World Central Kitchen’s second class of culinary students prepared a magnificent feast last week for their final project at WCK’s Culinary School in Port-au-Prince. The Culinary School operates in partnership with the Haitian Government and the Ministry of Tourism to prepare students for jobs in the food and hospitality industry.
The final buffet was the product of two weeks of hard work. The students designed, planned, and executed the full menu based on what they had learned from classes over the past five months. Guests at the banquet included Haiti’s Minister of Tourism, Stéphanie Villedrouin, as well as Dan Traster of WCK’s Chef Network and chefs and general managers from the top hotels and restaurants in Port -au-Prince.
All 15 students will now begin a one-month internship at hotels and restaurants in the area. Seven students were hired last semester after the completion of their internships. Another Smart Solution to Hunger and Poverty.
