Oz Project (Orphans of Zambia) - Lusaka, Zambia
World Central Kitchen believes that education is a strong way to advance the developing world, and a meal is one of the biggest incentives for a child to go to school. At the OZ School, World Central Kitchen designed the school kitchen and equipped it with clean cookstoves, stainless steel prep tables, refrigeration and a three compartment sink. The school cooks were trained in food safety and sanitation by WCK’s Chef Network. This training dramatically reduces the risk of food-borne illness.
We took the kitchen to another level of “smart” by building a bakery that helps sustain and grow the school. This bakery employs the local community and provides a sustainable revenue stream for the growing school. The Coptic Mission is a perfect match for WCK’s mission as together we aim to feed, educate, and change the lives of the next generation of Zambia.
