Chef and World Central Kitchen founder, José Andrés, brought clarity and compassion to the panel of sustainable food system experts at the National Geographic event, “Food: A Forum” on Friday, May 2. Andrés was joined by Dan Glickman, former secretary of agriculture; Danielle Nierenberg, president of Food Tank; and photojournalist Robin Hammond.
The event kicked off the launch of an eight month collaboration between National Geographic and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. The esteemed panelists discussed food security and sustainability in an effort to increase awareness about food issues and to find solutions to combat hunger. Andrés brought wisdom from his work with smart solutions to hunger and poverty around the world and discussed how clean cookstoves present opportunities for advancement and “can bring families closer to access education, health and better finance.”
