Life After Culinary School: Student Finds Culinary Career

March 8th, 2016

Yolandine

Youlandine Jean Louis had been out of work for years when she enrolled into World Central Kitchen’s culinary school in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. In the program, she learned essential cooking techniques. She excelled in her studies and graduated with the school’s first class.

During her internship through the WCK Culinary School, Youlandine worked at the Marriott Port-Au-Prince. In just one month she earned the respect and praise of her superiors, and at the end of her stay, she was offered a permanent position with the hotel. She now works as a banquet prep chef in the fast-paced kitchen.

World Central Kitchen’s culinary school continues to teach hardworking students in Haiti to prepare them for the job market. Haiti’s growing hospitality industry promises even more more career positions for students in the future.

“She loves hard work… She wants to be busy and banquets is the busiest position… I hired her right away… She is great!”
– Executive Chef Wael Younes, Marriott Port-Au-Prince
